Our Story so far

We have traveled a long road to even get to this point of development.Trips to Scotland, Reno, and Sweden, interviewing and filming, working with many cameramen, American,Scottish, English and Swedish. We have already been helped by two American women directors, whilst we met many people scientists, doctors, sufferers, organizations spoke with scores of the same all of whom helped expand our knowledge and understanding at each point of this journey of the documentary on ME. We have cut three teaser trailers, with four editors, formed two websites and we are now poised to gain all the funds we need to go to full production.

How we will get to full production.
Reaching our budget takes TIME funding is not easy to find – but we do have a few avenues to pursue.

The Film WHAT ABOUT ME? crew

Geoffrey Smith  Executive Producer

Born in Melbourne, Australia, Geoffrey Smith began travelling early, discovering a twin love for movies and storytelling along the way. In 1987 he found himself in Haiti, helping to make a documentary about the country’s first election in 31 years. Following the discovery of a massacre of 21 voters in a schoolyard, Smith was himself shot and wounded. After struggling to recover in London, he decided to go back to Haiti to find the man who had nearly killed him — and to film the whole thing. The resulting film, “Searching for a Killer,” won wide acclaim and was aired on the BBC. Smith discovered that the camera can be a powerful, cathartic tool in helping people through difficult periods and went on to build his subsequent work around that concept.
Winner of numerous awards, he has made over 20 films for the major UK broadcasters and is drawn to observational real life dramas where deep ethical and moral dilemmas abound.

His feature documentary ‘The English Surgeon”, follows the British neurosurgeon Henry Marsh as he travels to Ukraine to treat severe medical conditions that have not been seen in the UK for many years.  The film is a humane and startlingly honest look at our expectations of doctors and the moral and ethical dilemmas they face in a day’s work.

“The English Surgeon” was broadcast on the BBC in 2008, and was subsequently sold to over 15 international broadcasters.  It was shown on several European television channels, on public television in the USA and at over 85 documentary festivals around the world. Prizes for the film included the main prize at Hotdocs in Toronto, Four Screens in Paris, ZagrebDocs, the Shanghai TV Festival, the main Jury Prize of the Silverdocs Festival in Washington DC, and Docudays in the Ukraine and the Emmy for Outstanding Science and Technology Programming.
Geoffrey’s latest film Presumed Guilty investigates the Mexican justice system.  It premiered at the 2009 Toronto Film Festival, and since then it has won numerous awards from One World Media, Los Angeles FF, Verzio Human Rights FF, Sarajevo FF, DocumentaMadrid, San Francisco FF, Guadalajara FF, and Copenhagen FF.  It is released theatrically in Mexico this year.
